We used Ned Stevens for gutter cleaning on two of our properties. Both properties were on a 4-time-a-year schedule since 2019.
After several recent service visits that resulted in an “oops we found a problem and couldn’t complete your job,” I called to find out that our primary residence was “no longer deemed safe” due to the inability to reach our second story gutters. Unbeknownst to me, our house had grown taller and sprung a wraparound porch over the past few years that now “prevented crews from setting up ladders to reach the second floor.”
I asked how this was possible after having been using the service almost 4 years and got a lot of “I don’t know, but if enough crews don’t feel safe we can no longer service the property.” I suggested that perhaps the true safety issue was the crew not utilizing their safety harnesses (OSHA was contacted on several occasions). This was news to Ned Stevens and they “took note.”
If you offer a service that involves climbing onto rooftops, wouldn’t you think the crews that are hired shouldn’t be scared of heights? Or at the very least be trained on how to use safety equipment?
In the end, I’m happy to have canceled Ned Stevens gutter service. Every time they came out they would find a new “problem” or try to upsell me on an unwanted service. Cleaning crews had gotten sloppy over the years and left gutter sludge splatter on exterior windows and walls. They also dented my new gutters with one of their ladders and blamed it on a tree branch. It was becoming obnoxious. Steer clear of this company for gutter cleaning and shop local.
