I called Ned’s to do my gutters. That went fine. Then I called to include mosquito/tick & was given a price on the phone for the next time.
After I accepted, I called another competitor just to compare and the price quoted was a bit lower. So I called Ned’s back — they suddenly were able to chop the price almost in half because of a “friends & family” discount and it just rubbed me the wrong way. I indicated I wasn’t interested in the additional service because I found a better price even with this new discount, it was still pretty competitive. They once again lowered the price even more — I said no thank you. I want to pay the price that is fair and reasonable without sketchy one time discounts.
She was pushy but finally understood. She cancelled it.
Then a week later, they showed up to do the spray. Then I get a message that they couldn’t actually do the spray because of an event I had going on — mind you, I didn’t. I was working from home watching them in their car not even get out the car.
I call back, waste 20 mins of my life cancelling the service and figuring out what happened. I somehow got the same representative that was supposed to cancel it. She apologizes and says she ran into a problem the other day and never executed the cancellation because her system crashed. Again, it’s okay to make a mistake but she kept me on the phone for 20 mins. I ended up just cancelling the gutter service too.
I don’t like working with companies that have the ability to lower prices just because you have a more competitive quote. Quote me a reasonable price the first time and I wouldn’t have cancelled all of my services.
